Four reasons to visit the New Forest this spring

Come and stay a while

As winter fades and the New Forest bursts back into life, spring is one of the most rewarding times to head to the New Forest where you can enjoy a front-row seat to one of southern England’s most beautiful seasonal transformations.

The New Forest at Its Most Alive

Spring is when the New Forest truly awakens. Ancient woodland glows with fresh green leaves, wildflowers begin to carpet the forest floor and ponies, donkeys and deer roam freely with new foals and calves appearing across the heathland.  From THE PIG’s doorstep, guests can explore miles of walking and cycling trails, breathing in that unmistakable spring woodland air.

Seasonal Eating, Straight from Garden to Plate

Spring brings the first of the year’s fresh, vibrant flavours, and THE PIG’s 25 mile menu celebrates them in full. Expect tender greens, young vegetables, fresh herbs and early foraged ingredients, all grown in the kitchen garden or sourced from trusted local producers.  Guests are encouraged to explore the garden and polytunnels to see exactly where much of the menu begins.

A Restorative Escape Before the Summer Rush

Spring offers the best of the New Forest without the peak-season crowds. Trails are quieter, villages are calmer and there’s a sense of space and stillness that’s perfect for switching off.  Back at THE PIG, days end with fires crackling on cooler evenings, relaxed suppers, and the comforting feeling of being tucked away in nature - refreshed and ready for the brighter months ahead.

Close enough for an easy escape, far enough to switch off. Stay the night at THE PIG and make a proper break of it - book your room here
