a new season is calling
THE PIG-in the South Downs
spring is when our south downs hideaway really comes into its own

Spring at THE PIG‑in the South Downs
The gardens are stretching awake, the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park become vibrant with flora and fauna again, and there’s a renewed excuse to linger outside in those first warm days with a glass in hand.
From fresh, garden‑led feasting dishes in our glass restaurant to those first pours of crisp rosé on our terrace overlooking the vineyard, and local bluebell walks, live music, and long, lazy afternoons that turn into evenings – this is springtime, the PIG way.

Our Chef’s Picks set lunch menu
Savour a little new season goodness from the Kitchen Garden; our Spring Chef’s Picks is our seasonal, set lunch menu created for lingering over with a glass in hand and good company around the table, for long midweek lunches and early suppers… just the thing to welcome in the start of the sunnier months!
Fresh, unfussy, proper comforting dishes with lashings of colour celebrating what’s just been pulled, picked or foraged from our veg beds and on our doorstep that morning.
Two courses for £28.50
Three courses for £32.50

Spring Events & Live Music
This season at THE PIG-in the South Downs is about good food, great company and the occasional soundtrack.
We’ll be hosting live music evenings, relaxed garden gatherings and seasonal events that celebrate what’s coming out of the ground right now.
Think acoustic sets, informal feasts, and the kind of evenings that start with “just one drink” and end much later than planned.

Step Outside: Spring Walks & Garden Wanders
Just steps from our doorstep, you’ll find the rolling South Downs National Park and plenty of countryside rambles that show off the South Downs at its freshest – from blossom‑lined lanes to bluebell‑dotted woods.
Our team has pulled together some of their favourite local walks, perfect for working up an appetite before lunch or stretching things out after a leisurely breakfast.

Golden hour: Buttered & Baked
After a long, countryside ramble, there’s only one sensible next step. Settle in for Buttered & Baked - generous, comforting and proudly un‑fussy, ‘perfect-for-3pm’ kind of moreish treats.
Think warm, savoury, cheesy, buttery bites and plentiful homebaked sweet things to finish. It’s the perfect pairing for a mid-week spring wander, whether you’re staying the night or just dropping in.

Unwind in the Potting Sheds
Our treatment rooms are some of our favourite spots to hide out, tucked away in the peace and quiet of the Kitchen Garden. Sinking into a massage, facial or scrub while the rest of the world does its thing feels like a really good kind of treat.
It’s time carved out just for you.

Where will you wake up this Spring?

Our 4 Garden Wagons are tucked away in the walled Kitchen Garden with views out across the gardens and fields. Full of rustic reclaimed wood and texture, cosy furnishings and each with its own log burner and sofa to snuggle up on, these Wagons have king-sized beds and en suite bathrooms with monsoon showers, freestanding baths and bags of space for two. They also have their own private terraces and private outdoor showers for alfresco showering. These Wagons are made for adventurous escapes for two and being just a short stroll from the house means you can easily nip between the house and your secluded garden retreat (we provide umbrellas on the soggier days). There is loads of storage, but we would suggest you pack soft as hard cases will be a squeeze.
